    Hurrah
    I do it

So: I will tell about old but popular movie The Graduate

    English café podcast 282

In this cafe we are going to talk about 60 and 70s in a way. We going to talk about movie called Graduate. It was populate movie in late 1960s. Also going to talk about a women who became famous in a 1970s by the name of Patty Hearst, someone the most Americans of my generation and older certainly, remember.
The Graduated is a book and a movie. The book was written by a man named Charles Web and was published in the year I was born in 1963. Four years later it was made into movie and most Americans probably more familiar with the movie when with the book. I for example didn’t know where is a book until looking at some the information in preparing for this episode. The graduate is a person who has we called earned a degree ar a particular school, college or university. To earn a degree meant to complete a course of the study and to be given the some sort a certificate we called a diploma. In a case you completed your study in a particular area I for example graduated from University of Minnesota it where I get my bachelor degree I also graduated from the College at St Thomas, now it called University at St Thomas where I got my master degree finely I got my PhD from University of South California. So I’m graduated from 3 different universities. That what my father called the prominent student which is sort of true I m still a student in many way. Anyway the filmThe Graduate about young man named Benjamin Brodac? who is recent University graduate someone who has earned his University degree only a short time ago. In a plot of the story Benjamin parents host a graduation party for him. To host means that they &&& plan a party and have a party for in this case for sun. They invite friends, relatives to come to their house and celebrate their son graduation. \\\\ This is typical. One of the guests is a woman by the name of Mrs. Robinson. She is a wife Benjamin father’s partner.
She is a wife of Benjamin’s father business partner. Someone with father work with. Mrs. Robertson gives a young Benjamin a ride to home The phrase to give someone a ride meant to offer to drive someone somewhere when a person don’t have car. So if you don’t have a car and I do I could give you a ride to a \\\\beach or I can give you a ride to Disneyland, which is about 45 min by car from where I’m So Mrs. Robertson gives a young Benjamin a ride but she takes him to her house but not to his apartment and at her house she try to seduce him. To seduce means to try to get another person to want to have sexual relations with you. In this case Mrs. Robertson is trying to seduce young Benjamin and she removes or takes of her cloth what is probably pretty a power way to seduce someone. I don t know personally and she begin having affair. To have an affair meant to involve in romantic sexual relationship. We usually use the term when one or both of people in the relationship is married to someone else. So man has a wife and a man also has a girl friend which we usually call a lover. And that a situation where the man I having affair with other women. Benjamin having affair with Mrs. Robertson who is as I mentioned previously already married. In the same time Benjamin
‘s parents and Mr Robertson, mrs Robertson’s husband trying to set Benjamin up with Ellen who is Mr and Mrs Robertson’s daughter. To set someone up with someone means to try to get to people to date each other. Because you think they will like each other in romantic way. So you said my girl friend has a beautiful cousin and would you like to meet her may be two of you could go out on date have a romantic meeting. This never happen to me personally. As soon all of my friend’s cousins are not very pretty. So we have here a strange situation Benjamin is having an affair with the older Mrs. Robertson but his parents and Mr. Robertson want him to date a daughter, Mrs. Robertson daughter. Well, obviously Mrs. Robertson doesn’t want Benjamin to date her own daughter but Benjamin does anyway. Benjamin and Ellen actually fall in love with each other. Remember Ellen is a daughter a young daughter, someone more close to Benjamin’s age. Benjamin tells Ellen about the affair he had with her mother. This for some reason and I don’t know why, makes her very angry so Ellen begin dating someone else but Benjamin pursues her, continues to try to speak with her and tell her he loves her.
I don’t want tell you the end the movie we try don’t do it at the English cafe in case you someday want to see the movie. I can tell you that Mr. Robertson the husband finds out about the affair that Benjamin and his wife had and it of course lead to some other veryinteresting developments, interesting thing in the plot. One of the reasons the movie “The Graduate” become famous or at least continues to be well known is that it had famous song. The song is called Mrs Robertson by to very popular signers in 1960 and early 70 Pol Saymon and Art Garfunkel who well known as Saymon and Garfunkel. The success of the movie help made the song popular I think the lead success of the song help keep the movie in the minds of American people. The film itself was called one the finniest American comedies in a year it’s back to 1967. One of the actors actor who played Benjamin the main actor, we will call him the lead is Jastin Hofman. Hofman later become famous in several other movies and he is still famous actor. The movies one the best and highest in world you can get from movie in USA for best director. In 1996 the US national film registry and organization the examines and looks for good films and movies named The Graduate the culture significant film on coat, in meaning it is important in development of pop culture in 1966.Although it is gooddevelopment or a bad development depend from your opinion about the movie. In any case The Graduate well known. And the song Mrs. Robertson is well, mainly the song. The chorus on the song partly repeated on the song, goes something like that
    He is your Mrs. Robertson
Jesus loves////// you will known wowwow,
God bless she please Mrs. Robertson
Having whole place for whose you pray
    Hey hey hey
    Hey hey hey

    And so on
There is of course some ////in a fact that the chorus has religious sentiments, sentiments ideas mentioning God and Jesus, when Mrs. Robertson of course is having an affair with the young man. Irony is that you say one thing but you really mean another; you trying to convey a different meaning in the world actually say.

///// mean I have any version

    Hello!
Advise me, please, not adapted books for easy reading. Something light, with "plain" text. The similarity of the book Twilight - very simple non-specific text. Something for women - sweet, romantic, with an interesting storyline, not detectives.

    Oh, I see)
Then just tell your friend what kind of books you like - he might find what you would probably like)))
If you like modern classic literature - take Paulo Coelho http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paulo_Coelho. Language is rather simple but poetic, interestiing to read - original plot, romantic in many ways)))))
Richard Bach - Jonathan Livingston Seagull - is quite of the same janre, but more like a fairy tale - yet very interesting and moving reading. Language is also rather simple but poetic.

I've made some alterations and corrected your mistakes. I hope it was some help. Anyway it was nice for me to check my listening skills.

    English café podcast 282

In this cafe we are going to talk about the 60s and the 70s in a way. We are going to talk about a movie called ‘the Graduate’ which was a popular movie in a late 1960s. We are also going to talk about a women who became famous in the 1970s by the name of Patty Hearst, someone that most Americans of my generation and older, certainly, remember. And as always we’ll answer a few of your questions. Well let’s get started.
‘The Graduate’ is a book and a movie. The book was written by a man named Charles Web and was published in the year I was born 1963. Four years later it was made into a movie and most Americans are probably more familiar with the movie than with the book. To seduce – S E D U C E - means to try to get the other person to want to have sexual relations with you. In this case Mrs. Robertson is trying to seduce young Benjamin. I don’t want to tell you the end of the movie. We try not to do that on the English cafe in case you someday want to see the movie. I can tell you that Mr. Robertson, the husband, finds out about the affair that Benjamin and his wife had, and that of course leads to some other very interesting developments, interesting things in the plot. One of the reasons the movie “The Graduate” became famous or at least continues to be well known, is that it had a famous song. One of the actors, the actor who played Benjamin, the main actor, we would call him the lead – L E A D actor - was Dastin Hoffman. Hoffman later became famous in several other movies and he is still a famous actor. The movie won the Oscar the best and highest award you can get for a movie in USA for best director. And in 1996 the US National Film Registry, an organization that examines and looks at good films, good movies, named ‘The Graduate’ a ‘(quote) culturally significant film’ (unquote), meaning it was important in the development of pop culture in the 1960s. Whether that was a good development or a bad development depends on your opinion of the movie. In any case ‘The Graduate’ is well known and the song ‘Mrs. Robertson’ is well known, you may know the song. The chorus of the song, the part that repeats in the song, goes something like this:
And hills to you Mrs. Robertson
Jesus loves you more than you will know, wow wow wow,
God bless you please Mrs. Robertson
Haven holds a place for those who pray
    Hey hey hey
    Hey hey hey

    And so on
There is of course some irony in the fact that the chorus has these religious sentiments, these religious ideas mentioning God and Jesus, when Mrs. Robertson of course is having an affair with this younger man. Irony is when you say one thing but you really mean another; you are trying to convey a different meaning than what the words actually say.

    Hi to everyone!

I liked the book The Undomastic Goddes by Sophie Kinsella - it was really easy for reading and very funny

I also need an advise: I'm looking for an audio programm for learning words. Can anybody recommend me such programm?
